The AIPS Sport Media Awards 2026 are looking for the best sports storytellers across the world. More than 110 nationalities are already represented in this edition, with hundreds of works from around the world coming in every week.
Submissions are free and can be made in any language. The system will be open until 4 November 2026, 22:00 Central European Time. If you haven’t submitted yet, here’s a step-by-step guide for your reference.
HOW TO JOIN
1) Create an account at the AIPS Sport Media Awards website: https://aipsawards.com/sma/register
2) Log in with your email address and password: https://aipsawards.com/sma/
3) Fill in the “My Profile” section with your personal details.
4) Click on “Add Submissions”. Fill in Part 1, “Your Submission”. Select the Category and (if applicable) Sub Category of your first submission. Write the title and describe it in fewer than 1,000 characters. You can explain why it is relevant, the difficulties you've faced, or the effect your work produced.
5) Now fill in Part 2, “Files and Data”. Upload a link, a file, or both, depending on the category. It can be a PDF or Word file for written articles, a JPG for photography, or a video or audio file. (For Photography Portfolio, you will have to upload three to five pictures one by one.) You can also submit links, as long as they are not behind a paywall. If they are behind a paywall, make sure to upload a PDF of the full article.
6) Select "Yes/No" to indicate whether your submission is in English. If it is not in English, please specify the language, which is vital for proper judging. Remember that submissions can be in any language. It is advisable but not compulsory to submit an English translation.
7) Specify the name of the media outlet where the submission was published/broadcast and enter the publication date. Remember: all submissions must be works that were first published/broadcast between November 5, 2025, and November 4, 2026.
8) Select "Yes/No to" indicate whether the date of publication is visible in your file/link.
9) If you need to provide proof of publication (e.g. a PDF, magazine cover, screenshots, etc.), you have a separate area to upload your supporting documents/links. This same area applies if you want to send an English translation or a transcript of your audio/video files in the original language.
10) If you are ready, you can select Submit. If you want to make changes to a submission, go to “My Submissions”. You can delete, add or change submissions at any time. If you want to make a second submission, go to “Add Submissions” and repeat the process.
Bonus 5:
11) You can also indicate whether your submission is an investigative work, as all investigative works will be taken into consideration for the special category Investigative Reporting.
12) If your first submission was in the Young Reporter Under 30 category, please note that your second submission has to be in any of the other categories (Writing, Photography, Video, Audio). Only one Young Reporter submission per person is allowed.
13) Young Reporters can submit the same work twice: once in the Young Reporter category and once in one of the senior categories. All other submissions must be entered in one category only.
14) Photographers must take into consideration that a photo submitted in the Action category can’t be submitted as part of a portfolio.
15) Special mentions on valuable topics and cornerstone values of AIPS, such as Freedom of the Press, Access to Sources, Women’s Development, Gender Equality, Human Rights, Sport for Peace, Defending Sport from Doping and Outstanding Interviews, among others, will be considered regardless of the category in which the works were submitted.
